Wessex Water Services is a water supply and sewerage utility company covering the south west of England (Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, most of Wiltshire and parts of Gloucestershire and Hampshire). Supplying around 1.3 million people with water each day, Wessex Water is regulated under the Water Industry Act 1991. The company has around 2,000 employees and is owned by the Malaysian power company YTL Corporation. Based in Bath, the company acquired the assets of numerous water boards and authorities when the water supply was deregulated and the company owns and manages several reservoirs including Blashford Lakes, Clatworthy Reservoir, Durleigh Reservoir, Hawkridge Reservoir, Otterhead Lakes, Sutton Bingham Reservoir and Tucking Mill. Many of these reservoirs are used for recreation and as nature reserves in addition to supplying drinking water.
