Heathrow airport

Heathrow has come a long way from the grassy airfield of 1946 to nowadays serving over 70 million passengers every year. Heathrow is the UK's largest airport and also the world's fourth busiest airport. Heathrow Airport today has 5 terminals and 3 runways in pretty much constant use. A hub for over 90 airlines that connect passengers to 170 global destinations.

Heathrow airport is directly connected to the London underground line and access to any part of London is fast and convenient. In addition to the underground Heathrow airport taxi services operate 24/7 serving all UK locations. Heathrow is an incredibly busy airport and it is essential that you know which terminal you need prior to travelling, especially if arriving by car. Terminals 1, 2 & 3 are in the Central Terminal Area which is best reached via the M4 leaving at Junction 4, or from the M25 exit at Junction 15. Terminals 4 & 5 have their own
entrances, both easily accessible from the M25 Junction 14.

Short term car park is available adjacent to each of the Heathrow terminal buildings. With the Parking Express Heathrow operating the long stay car park serving Terminal 1 to 4 located on the Eastern Perimeter Road. There is also a new long stay park for the Terminal 5 passengers located on the Northern Perimeter Road. Both Long stay car parks operate a courtesy coach service connecting to the terminal buildings.

Terminal 1 is the hub for British Airways (for Helsinki, Lisbon, Barcelona, Madrid and Nice), BMI, Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand and United Airlines. Terminal 2 is home to Lufthansa and Air France. At terminal 3 you can find Air India, American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada, Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) and most long-haul international flights. Terminal 4 caters for British Airways (for Bangkok, Singapore and Australia flight destinations), Qantas and most Skyteam flights. The barand new Terminal 5 is home to all British Airways flights not operating out of Terminal 1 (including all domestic flights, most European flights and some long-haul) and Terminal 5 will eventually be home to all British Airways flights.

All terminal buildings are self contained with a full range of passenger services and facilities, effectively each Heathrow terminal is a mini airport with arrivals/departures, shopping, bars and restaurants, executive lounges and more.
